Golden Beaches, Tirquaz Waters, Green Forests and a Fresh Aegean Breeze are just a few of the magical things Stomio has to Offer.
The coastal settlement of Stomio is located at the foot of the mountain Ossa (Kissavos) in place of the ancient city Evrimenes on the East coast of Central Greece, 48km from Larisa City, 60km from Olympus first climbing base (Prionia) and 130km form Meteora Kalambaka. Surrounded by sea and mountain, Stomio is a quiet place, perfect for relaxation and peace of mind away from the big city’s noise and the crowdy touristic places. Because of it's climate it is the ideal place to visit it all four seasons.
During spring from the 1st of April till 15th of May and during autumn from the 15th of September till the end of October the Sun is not so hot about 26°C till 30°C. The sandy golden beach is empty of people and it is ideal for relaxing under the sun or having long walks accompanied by the sound of the waves overlooking the green forests of Ossa. It gives you the feeling that the whole place belongs to you. The water is warm enough to swim about 22°C till 25°C and the magic place of Calypso Canyon with the 70m waterfall and the two blue lagoons is waiting for you to explore it and to find your paradise on earth! The top of mountain Kissavos is 1974m and it is just 2hours from Stomio. 40min of driving in the forest and 80min of hiking to reach to the top were you will see, almost the 1/5th of Greece, from Halkidiki to Olympus till Meteora and mount Pelion. There are also many organized trails inside the mountain available for hiking, mountain biking and enduro biking. Other activities like wind surfing, kitesurf and paragliding are perfect all year long.
After the 15th of May and till the 15th of September the water temperature rises from 26° to 28°C. You will cool yourself in the turquoise waters and you will enjoy a nice cocktail under the Greek sun. Most of the tourists that visiting Stomio during high season are local people and most of the time they visiting at weekends. This gives the privilege to Stomio to stay nice and quiet all summer. Most of activities like fishing safari, cycling and hiking, are also ideal in this kind of season.
From November till end of March the scenery changes. Leaves are dropping from the trees and the mountain is full of red and yellow colors. The temperature is about 10°C to 20°C on the Sea level. The days are mostly sunny and the sea temperature drops from 20°C to 10°C. Some “bold” swimmers are still enjoying the sea. In the middle of the winter snow falls most on the mountain side 300m above sea level and sometimes usually in Christmas on the sea side. When snow starts to fall the whole coast turns white and a light fοg is coming from the sea. Sometimes you think that you're in a fairy tail and some old pirate ship will appear in the sea. Hunting season is open for wild pigs and rabbits. Time to enjoy a traditional dish of wild pork (stifado) with a fine glass of red Syrah wine, while a slow jazz track plays in the background and you are sitting next to the fireplace overlooking the Aegean sea and the snowy mount Olympus. On winter Sundays are nice to have a small walk to the monastery of Agios Dimitrios which is located 3km from Stomio. Over there you will listen to the Sunday's prayer and later you will enjoy a nice Greek traditional coffee at the Monastery’s yard and discuss with the locals.
